In 1824, a small village brewery in Grevenstein started brewing beer according to the German Purity Law of 1516. More than 190 years later, this place has turned into one of the most cutting-edge private breweries in Europe: C. & A. Veltins. Passion for traditional handicraft, willingness to innovate, entrepreneurial foresight, investment power and a corporate culture that is characterized both by team spirit and commitment to top-quality are the cornerstones of this success story spanning over five generations of the Veltins family. To this day, their premium beers are brewed using only top-grade ingredients – malt, hop, yeast and purest well water – strictly according to the purity law of 1516. The water that has its source in the protected nature reserve around Grevenstein is characterized by an extraordinary softness.
